What's all of this N O I S E ?
MY HEART IS SINGING!
So it was around 6am and Lin had decided to stick to her promise and began cooking breakfast for the hungry souls of the area or whoever was to stray their way to he house. With her life being held up by being in the MWPSB she wasn't really going to go anywhere and thus, plenty of time to make breakfast for people who inhabited the MWPSB this early, but there was two rules. You must respect the house and the people in it... And you mustn't fight at the dinner table, verbally or physically. People would respect that most of the time but Lin would repeat herself from time to time to make sure any new comers knew of the rules. You came here to eat, not to kill each other. Plus her daughter might get not see her again and she could get in trouble for letting people fight each other in a room. Sure they had to wake up early for this one but as the saying goes, never turn down a free meal... Especially if it was home-cooked.
Lin had ordered fresh produce as expensive as it was... Some people preferred the real stuff, and she was one of those people. The fake stuff just didn't taste nice to her and as much as it was seen as 'healthy' there was no replacing the real food. Sure it was a dying market as it was growing more and more expensive but Lin didn't mind. She had plenty of money from her old job and from multiple savings she had opened, if she ever got out of the current situation in regards to her husband, she would be set for life. Once she got out of the MWPSB she could easily move into a nice little flat and look after her daughter, Maria... Plus she enjoyed spoiling the young girl. She knew what she liked and that was final. If Maria wanted something, she'd get it if it was reasonable. Lin wouldn't completely spoil the girl but she wouldn't let her get away with acting like a brat... Not that she ever did. Maria was as much as a sweetheart as Lin.
She poured a small amount of oil in one of the many pans on her cooker and began to fry up some bacon while cracking a few eggs in a different pan. She took care for if there were any vegetarians in the area she was in, people often forgot that the real stuff had to come from... Well... Real animals. So Lin always cooked things separately as to not upset anyone who was against harming animals. She began to whip some batter in a bowl while things fried on the stove, planning on making pancakes on top of what she was already making for the group. She wasn't called Mother Hen for no reason... The bright mother began to place sausages in a pan to fry with the bacon. Sausage mixed in with red onion and ground black pepper. Chosen from a special friend who helped supply her with food. Lin began to deep fry hash browns and pop the bread down to toast... Also making French toast at the same time.
The mother was used to working with multiple things at the same time... She was an ex-doctor for one and a mother first, having to dress her child while making breakfast, coffee and clean was something normal for her. Lin had a check list on a fridge, checking things off as she went to make sure she had put things on to cook. She had set the baked beans to be warmed up while checking the sausages. It was a juggling act but she was doing well with it. Lin began to put things out on plates and setting them down at the large table that was next to the kitchen in her room. It had been neatly set, cutlery laid out with place mats at each seat with a napkin resting on top and plates already laid out, ready to be used by whoever arrived for breakfast. Lin was careful to split the vegetarian friendly breakfast from any meat-containing food.
The table was soon covered in various plates and condiments. There was a huge stack of food that looked like it could feed an army, let alone a whole street. From eggs to pancakes and even freshly sliced fruit. Tea and coffee trays had been placed at either end of the table for people to help themselves to. Needless to say that if Lin did ever leave the MWPSB... She'd make one hell of a B&B owner.
Checking her watch, Lin began to get changed into her turtle neck jumper and her trousers to cover up her secret... Her husband's cruelty. She wished that she could spend more time with her daughter, they couldn't live together. Of course, her daughter was put up with a new 'family'. She had met them before her daughter was adopted, they seemed to be nice though she didn't know what they were like at home. Maria never complained about them so she just guessed that they were nice people.
Lin had been asked many times why she did this for people who were criminals or even inspectors, the very people who put her in this place... People were people. Everyone needed to look after each other and that was final. She thought of it was a nice gesture, it was a time to share stories and enjoy good food from a lady who's heart was made from pure gold. After all, people needed to be fed.
