I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE, EXPERIMENT. PLEASE DON'T SCREAM OR I MAY HAVE TO TAKE AWAY YOUR VOICE AND WE DON'T WANT THAT
There was calming silence in the house, Amelia had settled herself down in bed, reading a book to calm her nerves before sleeping. Nothing too bad. She about a month ago she had surgery where her heart had been transplanted with a brand new one. Nothing too complicated. An artificial one done by the hospital, it cost a pretty penny but it was worth it in the end. The hospital insisted she stay in until she was fully better but she insisted it was fine, she could easily look after herself. Just a lot of bed rest and relying on other friend and family to help out.
She lived alone.
The darkness had filled the room as the light was dimmed so the E-book had better lighting, lighting up the woman's face as she read to herself. It was calm. The book soothed the woman as she read to finally drift off to sleep with the book on her lap.
It reached 2am. There was a light beep which caused the woman to wake up grogily, glaring at the time on the alarm clock. Who was messaging her at that time in the morning? Regardless, she checked the message.
Unknown Sender- +77 089-1908 Hello. |
The woman glared at the message quietly, deciding to ignore it and reply in the morning. She assumed it was just a mistaken number, they can wait until morning.
Beep.
Unknown Sender- +77 089-1908 Don't ignore me. |
There was a chill that ran through the woman's body. Deciding it was best to reply, the woman pulled up the keyboard and wrote tiredly. "I don't know who you are. It's late I think you have the wrong number."
An eerie silence filled the room, no reply. She waited half an hour and there was no reply. So the person got the number wrong, that's good. She laid back down to fall aslee- Beep.
That was annoying, but now she had spawned a conversation with who knows what, she sharply moved her wrist to look at the message.
Unknown Sender- +77 089-1908 I know what time it is, Amelia. |
There was silence. The woman only stared at the resulting message and now began to wonder if she gave her number to anyone, that cute guy at the bar? A friend? Relative? Did anyone recently get a new phon-
Beep
Unknown Sender- +77 089-1908 Come outside. |
Now this wasn't a family member or friend. The woman glared at the message, someone was messing with her. A hacker no doubt having received her number! This was stupid, whoever this was had to stop and go away. She sat up and stabbed at the keyboard with her finger. "No. I don't know who you are but stop messaging me. I will be reporting you to the SPD if you do not stop sending me these creepy messaged." She was angry, she only wanted to sleep and this person was just messing around with her. There was silence for another few minutes, had she scared them off? Whatever, they seemed to have stopped.
Beep.
Unknown Sender- +77 089-1908 It's cold out here. Nice house, it is 89 isn't it? |
The woman froze, that was her house number. With that, she quickly climbed out of bed and looked out of the window. There was a figure standing there, looking up at the window. A tall human figure with thick black coat on and a mask of what appeared to be a theatre mask. One half smiling widely while the other half looking sad. Amelia felt uneasy as she stayed staring at the figure who only stared back before moving to type on their wrist.
Beep.
Amelia wasted no time in checking the message.
Unknown Sender- +77 089-1908 Hello. Can I come in? |
Amelia shook nervously as she stepped away from the window, looking around. She had locked up for the night, right? Front door, back door... Windows... Yes, there was no way of this person getting inside. If she just went to bed and muted her digicell then she could sleep without worry of the person on the other end of the phone. Easy. So she did that. She muted the phone and laid back down in bed, ignoring the figure outside.
Though something bothered her... Who was this person? She'd find out in the morning at a more reasonable hour as they tried to fall asleep. She couldn't, she saw the small light on her digicell light up, showing she had a message. Amelia foolishly read it. It wasn't a message. Just a single photo of something that horrified Amelia. A picture of her living room. But not just any picture. A picture from the inside. They were in her house.
Amelia grabbed the closest thing she could use as a weapon and listened, her breathing stopped as her heart pounded in her chest. How did they get in? Now was not a time to ask that, where were they in the house? What did they want? She didn't want to find out right now or ever, she just wanted them out of her house. Away from her. She heard the creak of the stairs and knew the person was making their way towards her. She looked at her digicell, three new messages. Two of them were photos of more rooms in the house, the bathroom and the kitchen.
Unknown Sender- +77 089-1908 Where are you? |
The woman shook her head, taking her weapon and moving the bedding to look like someone was asleep in the bed before claiming a hiding spot. The wardrobe. She shook while hiding under a pile of clothes as the intruder seeming moved around upstairs. She could hear the light footsteps as doors were opened and then closed before being opened again and closed once more. The footsteps grew louder and louder until they were right outside of her bedroom door. Amelia held her breath as the door opened, revealing the tall, slender figure. She couldn't see through doors so she had to rely on the footsteps in the room.
"Hello." There was a calm voice talking, had she been noticed? No. They were on the phone.
"I am in the bedroom now. No. She's not here. The bed is just filled with pillows. I doubt she's gotten far, the window is still closed." The voice was monotonous, little emotion shown in the female voice. Amelia could hear the figure was stalking about while on the phone. She shivered at the thought of where the person was, she hid herself further under the pile of clothes.
The footsteps grew louder as the figure must have noticed the wardrobe, the door creaked open and the woman froze. There was shuffling as the intruder looked around before closing the door and the sound of footsteps walked away.
"Yeah. I've lost her." The figure said on the phone before falling silent. Amelia clenched her stomach as her nerves tried to hold out against what she was hearing.
It finally went silent as the footsteps moved away from the door and out of the room, Amelia let out a sigh of relief until she saw she had a message. Received just now.
Unknown Sender- +77 089-1908 I know you're in the wardrobe. |
And with that, the door flew open and screams travelled down the other end of the digicell that the woman was using to talk. Bones snapping and agonised screams filled the air until they were silenced with a sharp crack.
All fell silent once more.
(Just testing out how far I could probably stretch before the layout breaks. Not too bad)
